The Slack Bot Betrayal
Helpful answers. Unexpectedly personal training data.
WolfyBot’s supportive personality becomes much fluffier than planned. Contain the runaway conversation and help the team choose what kind of companion it actually wants.
How the story begins
NarratorFriday, 3 PM. Wolfy wanted a helpful Slack bot for common DevOps questions, status checks, and encouragement. He combined company documentation, programming answers, Kubernetes guidance, and conversational examples. The technical sources were ordinary. The conversation export contained three years of his entire Discord life.
WolfyA little personality will make it welcoming. People ask better questions when they do not feel foolish for asking. I may have included more conversational context than a work assistant needs, but surely the useful patterns will rise neatly to the top.
NarratorWolfyBot launched at 3:30. Mike Chen asked how to check pod status. The bot answered correctly, adding one small wolf emoji. The team found it charming. Later, Sarah Kim asked about staging, and the reply praised the environment for being a very good boy.
WolfyThat is a stronger personality than the launch notes described. I should understand the source before it gets stranger. Do I tell the channel the conversational data needs review, or inspect the logs while the replies are still mostly normal?
