NarratorFriday, 11:47 PM. The home office smelled of coffee and warm electronics. Outside, a full moon climbed above the rooftops. Wolfy watched the payment service consume memory and wondered which approaching disaster deserved his attention first.

WolfyThe bug appeared at 11:32. The patch is ready. Every sensible engineer knows what Friday-night deployments mean, but sensible engineers are presumably asleep. I am on call. Apparently the universe considers that an invitation to be creative.

NarratorAn alert pulsed beside the deployment window. Wolfy reached for his mug; his ears twitched instead. His tail started wagging hard enough to brush the chair. The payment charts rose. So did the moon. Neither requested approval.

WolfyThe incident channel needs an update. I can feel my fingers changing already, and pretending everything is ordinary will require an increasingly imaginative definition of ordinary. What do I tell the people watching the revenue counter?
